I keep hearing this and other gun laws violates the constitution.. so why if its so clear-cut hasnt the NRA or some other "red-blooded patriotic American" gone to court to get those laws revoked?

Probably the main reason is lack of faith in the courts.

There have been a lot of court cases and ruling that there is NOT a personal right to bear arms under the 2d Amendment. Most importantly, there was a US Supreme Court case that said the "right to bear arms" was not a personal right but the "right" only related to the militia.

The militia as it existed in the 18th century no longer exists. The militia of that time was the standing army and is roughly equivalent to the US Armed Forces of today.

There are plenty of articles out there explaining the law but the mouth breathers from the NRA want to ignore the established law. The part in the 2d Amendment about a "well regulated militia" is inconvenient and too hard to write with crayons.

Anyone out there in favor of the personal right to keep nuclear weapons and a few short range missiles? These are "arms" too.
