I bet they are a higher percentage of your income than you care to think. Even a low guess, assuming you make $100k is $200/month for car insurance and $200/month for mortgage insurance that's about 5% of your gross income. We aren't spending even a fraction of that on the environment.

I make less then that and spend less then that. The actual percentage may be slightly higher (because I make a lot less then that). We are probably spending more then 5% of the GDP on complience costs and lost development due to environmental regulation. Even if we are not I was talking about the plans and ideas of some environmental groups not current environmental law.
