in this bear market the majority of companies stock are down. there are two factors why the stock is down: a. bad management and b. weakness in the economy. I shy away from companies that have BOTH charcteristics, and prefer to stick with companies that have excellent management since they will recover when the cycle reverses.

are we at the bottom? I don't know. nobody knows. but i think we are close to the bottom. i am not a person who wants to buy at the absolute bottom. right now the environment is good enough for me to jump in into Oracle and Texas Instrument.

if a person thinks the bottom is still much much lower than the current level, by all means wait for that. i don't believe that it is. of course we can be wrong as we have been before, just like some people thought nasdaq 2800 was the bottom. i don't pretend to know the answer.
