Hello Barry,

I had read one of your previous posts about this subject not too long ago and implemented it in a test version of Automatic Investor (however after reading your last post, I now realize I didn't quite get the algorithm right).

Basically what I did was save the last purchase price. Then I would only allow a subsequent buy (if Automatic Investor was recommending it) if the price fell below a certain percentage of the saved price (e.g. if current price < 90% of saved price, then allow AI recommended purchases to be displayed, else ignore any buy recommendations). I did something similar on the sell side.

After testing a pseudo-random selection of stocks, this algorithm produced worse results (compared to simple AIM BTB) in over 80% of the stocks tested.

I still think this concept has merit, but I haven't devoted much time to determine how to make it work in practice.

I'm wondering if you (or anyone else) have tested something similar with better results. If so, what stocks did you use?

regards,
Mark.
