Historical judgements made by people that affect others have tended to be wrong. Make whatever judgements you wish about your own behavior. Or mine if I want to start doing things TO you. But short of that, why is it so dang important to be making all these judgements? Didn't someone say, "Judge not lest ye be judged?" Nevermind, he probably wasn't that important. Ooops, that was a judgement.

I think in the case of tattling we all need to take responsibility and use our own judgement as to whether harm could result by tattling or by refusing to tattle.

I take your point about taking responsibility. I think the problem is more in the judgment of the risk. I know I have trouble judging the risk so I can't expect kids to be adept at it.
