What was unpleasant and unexpectant is turning into a nightmare. Wanting to keep someone from taking your money away is not greed. Tim, Yeah, it does when the society in general is hurt. Reps. are about the individual and his or her needs. I wouldn't mind that if there was extra $$$ floating around with no debt. But there is a national debt, and the surplus $$$ the economy is generating right now could dry up quickly if we head into a recession. Furthermore, dep'ts will be cut that should not be cut, assuming you care about the day to day workings of our society but others will be allowed to expand to deal with some people's paranoia. And it doesn't stop with $$$....paranoia causes people to be defensive and to grope for weapons. We are a society so heavily armed you would think we were living in medieval times. Our kids are killing each other, LA's murder rate is greater than all of Japan's. And yet the 2nd amendment is held up as the standard by which we refuse to disarm ourselves. Its bull...do we not put up stop lights because it would restrict our freedom of movement. No. It would endanger other people. Do we allow unlimited speeding on our freeways? No...because it would endanger other people? Do we permit the mass arming of the population? Yes....even though it endangers all of us. There is no logic to this stance. As a society grows and becomes more dense and complex, it becomes necessary to place restrictions on its members to insure the well being of all the members. Guns have and continue to take a major toll on our population, and yet we resist the obvious. You live in a world that is too populated to not have gov't. You need to accept it and to accept that this gov't requires $$$ to run and that you are responsible for maintaining that gov't and insuring that it protects the well-being of all its citizens. And if you can not handle that, then I suggest you go to a very rural place like MT or WY, or the outback in Australia where gov't is minimal. ted
