You think the Republicans should be more "fiscally responsible" and "pay down the debt"?

That is utterly astounding. Amazing.

I've been paying on other people's debts for the last 40 years, and you think I need to be more "fiscally responsible".

I just spewed my beverage.

Let me clarify that.

The only sane thing to do with a debt is to pay it off. That is the only way that you eventually have no debts.

Unfortunately, that is not going to happen. The reason it is not going to happen has nothing to do with politicians not understanding that it is the only sane thing to do. Many of them understand. The reason that the debt will not get paid off is because if it ever did get paid off, and then liberals got control of the government, they would start increasing the debt again. They would get away with it, because they could say "See, we did it before and it worked, so we can do it again."

This country would be in a state of complete anarchy in less than 7 days if all welfare checks stopped for two months. Anyone who wanted to put this country into complete chaos could simply stop welfare checks for two months in a row, and the entire population would be at war in the streets.

How did it come to that? Any ideas?
