Stick around. The gang is largely comprised of "thugs" but they are a bright and humorous lot. Frankly, I enjoy the atmosphere as well as the excellent contributions found here. I also know that many of the posters have lots of investment scars, which means that what they have to say is worth noting. Like you, I am expecting a good bounce in the near term. In fact, this expectation has actually kept me very nimble and inclined to take the quick profits rather than let any positions run, for some time now. On the whole, this approach has reduced possible/probable profits, but allowed me to sleep much more comfortably. (g) As noted earlier, I slimmed down again on Friday to basic "core" holdings. Interestingly, I have as much fear of being long anything in this market (except gold) as you do of going short. Goes to show that money can be made in both directions if one does some homework. I should note that two of the stocks you are entering are "core" at this end. I expect AMAT to visit the teens this year. A good company with excellent management, but fast imploding Cap ex. across the semi world ensures an imploding of the company's operating earnings. Look for new guidance within a few weeks. We have exchanged views on RMBS before, so I won't reiterate my views that the company is a dead duck. I will note that the revelations coming from the digging done by RMBS' legal opponents does suggest that the upcoming court case will not be fun for RMBS. And the saturation now rampant across the entire PC sector sure doesn't suggest heavy demand for RDram or decent profits from the company's royalty stream. The stock to me is a stale fairy tale that has consistently failed to live up to the hype. Time will tell which of us proves correct. I have no doubt that you have solid TA reasons for liking AAPL, but from a fundamental point of view, I see it as a nasty time to own this stock. They have finished the "pipe-line fill" for now and unless there are some new products about which I am unaware, I can't see the company accomplishing anything other than a "rearguard action" in terms of trying to hang on to a dwindling market share. I am not involved in the stock at all, but interested in your thoughts on it. I know you have well thought out views about your picks and I look forward to having a chance to read them. No doubt I am missing important points on each. As they are "core" and as I try to maintain an open mind, your comments are solicited. I can change my mind on a dime and have done just that based on some of your past comments. (g) Best, Earlie
