Hi Peter,
' Steelco STE/a.to'
I'm following energy and it's ancillary industries a bit eg (Tubular steel). From what I'm reading there is a lot of energy infrastructure that needs to be built in the US.
eg: California doesn't have enough pipeline capacity to get all the NG it needs.
at least one pipeline will be built from the north for NG.
Tanker fleets are getting old.
O&G Drilling is up and increasing as the payback per well is diminishing. (need more rigs)
Gas turbines
etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc....

regards
Kastel
Guess I should have been adding FN instead of looking at it LOL.

Peter:
I read your post and just had to respond. You may have guessed that I went looking to a longer time frame for answers. Looking also for divergences. Basic commodities have been down for so long (including gold)<g> that everyone will have to pay for them in the end, not your lastest chips for that $100 toy your daughter just has to have. (Or mine for that matter). Steel makers biggest clients I would guess are the automakers.

The automakers are heading down, I don't think that's a secret and they will be needing less steel. This is actually a good thing perhaps for the mills as they can decrease production and increase prices, the companies and shareholders should benefit, but the economies of steeltowns won't be helped.

Without getting into any fine detail of these charts and T.A. the first five years looks like good healthy progression, perhaps coming out of a recession, but the mass of value under the last five years of F & GM still scares the hell out of me and must come crashing down. And that bubble is still so big that the explosion may send things right from recession to depression in no time.

I hope I'm wrong and that the obvious down path of the behemoths that every pension plan around the world owns remains orderly, but orderly or quick it will still overswing and base commodities will overswing in the opposite direction.

Anyway FWIW, IMHO

regards

Bob

Well, here's yet another whole area I know nothing about
but I'll take a shot at interpreting the charts. <gg>

I do not have a position here, though I live pretty close.

On the six month daily,
the MACD histogram may be going positive as the momentum lines look like they've just crossed.
That would be a positive sign.

Stochastic is rising, supporting that MACD signal (if that is indeed a MACD signal).
Lots of room for Stochastic before it hits the overbought zone.

CMF is negative.

Look at the SAR.
Interesting to note, that on this daily chart,
the SAR has just reversed into what should be an uptrend.

On the weekly,

MACD momentum lines are indeed rising though the histogram while positive, seems stalled.

Stochastic not giving a very clear signal, IMO.

CMF is negative but with an improving pattern, IMO.

Note the SAR.
In this case, the SAR has just reversed, indicating the start of a downtrend.

What does all that mean?

I don't know.

I'll watch it though.
