Yahoo slowdown is a precursor to the end of Linux/BSD. Yahoo employs hundreds of developers who were running around trying to update BSD Unix and Linux. When Yahoo rationalizes costs, you will see them fire a bunch of these expensive programmers. Companies looking for cost savings have no business contributing open source to random public domain offerings. This should help Microsoft forge ahead by adding useful features to Windows that will be more difficult to replicate when the hordes of 'i have dot-com stock options - i can work for free' programmers are forced to write code for money instead.

The begining of the end of the dot-com phenomenon is the begining of the end of the Linux phenom too.
