Cary,

I am trying to understand some of the dynamics behind the 1995-96 semiequip cycle when AMAT dropped from a trailing 12 month PSR of 2.93 to 1.15.

I note that during the same period, INTC's PSR rose from 2.87 to 5.16.

How would you account for this puzzling anomaly?

Unfortunately, I was not closely following semiconductors or semi cap equip stocks in those days. Could you please enlighten me as to what was taking place in the industry, the macroeconomic climate, or within the company itself that might account for AMAT's PSR reaching such historic low levels at that time. As you might guess, I am trying to build some scenarios for trough PSRs this cycle.

TIA,
Sam
