Saw part of Summitt II of Silicon conference. Jeff Bezo was asked by TGom Brokaw if next year on Summit III Amazon would be profitable. Bezos answered that "My prediction Amazon will be profitable by that time. There is no guarantee, but that is my prediction." Yeah, right.


I saw that too. I really enjoyed the losses as a percent of sales comment. Bezos used the percent from Q4 of 2000 only so the numerator was 1/4th of the year loss and the denominator was skewed twice as large compared to any other quarter. Then he compared all of 1999 losses to all of 1999 sales. The numbers he used for losses were their "performa" too. What a great guy he is;-)
