I don't like how you think...quick...let's trot out the Nazis

GOOD and convincing way to argue Mr Potato.

edit- I wonder how soon the rest of the EBILL protection team will show up? Are you guys all umbilically linked or just have nothing better to do but follow each other around?

Funny that Sanger must have missed the weed on this thread.

Zoltan in the same article you link to it says - I am not calling the Left a bunch of Nazis; that would be as wrong as calling the Right a bunch of Nazis. But, if you are willing to concede that a modern conservative is not inherently a racist, anti-Semitic bigot, then this is actually a pretty obvious point. I should say that if you can’t concede that a modern conservative is not an inherently bigoted person then, again, you are a very ignorant and silly person addled with a profoundly irrational view of politics."

In other words he isn't saying that leftists are Nazis, or that the left in the US is like the Nazis. He does consider them closer to the Nazi's then conservatives but even if you accept this as true it doesn't mean they are actually close.

I like his statement "Modern conservatives have no trouble seeing that Nazism was evil incarnate, but for generations Leftists had trouble seeing that Stalin belongs in the adjacent cubicle in Hell..." B

But I don't think there are too many stalinists in the US.

Tim

"I’ve never met a real social-welfare state leftist who could answer the following question without having to think real hard: ‘Aside from the murder and genocide, what exactly don’t you like about National Socialism?’"

Whoever wrote that has certainly not met many social-welfare state leftists. I suspect that most would answer, with no thought at all, that they object to the concentration of state power in the hands of an individual or small group with no effective constraint.

Hitler and the Nazis were resolutely pro-gun- control, pro-speech-code and anti-religious

This means nothing. The Taleban destroy statues and persecute women, does this make all Muslims misogynistic barbarians? The religious right is every bit as "pro-speech code" as the social-welfare state leftists, are they also suspected Neo-Nazis? Radical feminists are as opposed to pornography as the born-agains, are they the same thing?

The beliefs of Margaret Sanger are irrelevant to any discussion but one on the beliefs of Margaret Sanger. Many people today - including many conservatives - agree with Margaret Sanger's idea that birth control is a good thing. That doesn't mean they agree with her on anything else. If I oppose murder and so does the pope, does that make me a Catholic?

Idiocy. Supreme idiocy.

Hitler was also incredibly anti-smoking, a committed vegetarian and in favour of what we is now generally accepted as a relatively healthy diet (i.e., plenty of vegetables, less processed food).

OK, as an omnivorous smoker I guess I can't be a Nazi. Mind you, I eat wholemeal bread.

As for the rest of your conundrum, I’ve never met a real social-welfare state leftist who could answer the following question... clearly you've never met a real social- welfare state leftist at all.

Try going to Sweden sometime, or maybe Denmark, and Norway too. Note that these very welfare-state countries do encourage entrepreneurism and free enterprise. Note that they also have exceptionally low poverty, friendly and healthy people, clean environments, and regularly top international tables as the most desirable countries in the world to live.

Note also their singular lack of belief in Nazi policies. And, being polite, how hard they will try not to show their revulsion at the offensiveness, idiocy and total lack of political knowledge indicated by your question.
