Ish re:"Murder is murder. No one kills without hate even if it's his own kind. Are you proposing the death penalty be waved so torture could be used in hate crimes?"

Come on......there are lot's of killings without hate, eg contract murders, killing in self defense, many killings in war, euthanasia, abortion (and I am pro-choice). And don't be snookered by the death penalty....very few killers get the death penalty but yet if you ask the average person in favor of the death penalty he/she would say that all killers should be put to death. In fact many politicians have been elected because they supported the death penalty, i.e. George Pataki, NY gov., and yet not a person has been put to death in his 8 years in office. I assure you there have been murders in NY during his term. NJ has had a death penalty for more than 15 years and yet noone has been put to death. My point is....those in favor of the penalty have been hoodwinked by their politicos who have no more stomach to put anyone to death than the average citizen. And in case you have any doubt, I am against the death penalty.

I am proposing that the U.S. takes a strong stand against racial and cultural hatred. I know that "murder is murder", but crime against others, who are different, has had a terrible history in this country and throughout the world.

Except for following the party line, why do you hate laws against hate crimes?
