Too many people did not pay taxes on their market gains last year, thinking it would be better to reinvest and pay the penalty. Not a bad idea, until reality bites. IMO, a lot (not all) of what is happening now is tax cover selling.



That won't be the case going forward. Who had gains in 2000? If anyone did, this would be the time to take an extension.
