Jeff, They took the beach alright, but never go the back-up they were expecting. They even took a couple of villages but, by that time, Castro had his troops, and planes, on the way. The History Channel program said that the CIA begged for permission to use jets off a carrier for support, but all Kennedy would allow was an old B-24 with Cuban markings. The exiles already had some of those, but they flew in naked, and Castro's planes, and artillery, downed every one of them. I think the one from the CIA got splashed too. At any rate, the exiles were left out in the cold, and all were either killed, or captured by Castro's forces. Later on they were freed when Kennedy promise millions, or billions, of dollars to be used for medicines and food for the Cuban people. I wonder how much of that money ever went to the benefit of the people that needed it. ~;=;o --haqi
