I couldn't resist copying this post from the zoo.

"Richard, Dallas, etc, I will take my apology whenever you folks are ready.

This was the THIRD STRIKE I warned you about in connection with Mr. Capellas's propensity to stick-it to shareholders.

I forecasted that CPQ would retest its lows in the $14's when Capellas next announced the disappointing news which I was anticipating. Remember when I cautioned you that "A Leopard Doesn't Change Its Spots"???

You know that I shorted CPQ at @$23 after I sold a very substantial position in CPQ and I would only consider re-establishing a CPQ position AFTER Capellas is gone.

I am truly sorry for those who have already suffered losses and will suffer additional substantial losses tomorrow, however, as a professional investor, let me leave you with this bit of advice: NEVER HOLD ONTO A STOCK WHEN THE CEO EITHER LIES OR DEMONSTRATES THAT HE IS CLUELESS!!!

In Mr. Capellas's case, take your choice???"

Bravo to MC. I was afraid that he would wait until April to warn. You had to figure they were going to warn. Warning now, dumping Road Runner for $120 million gain, and restructuring the PC business gives me more confidence in MC. I think he has a good handle on things. It will take awhile in this economic environment, but CPQ will be back before long.

Andreas,

Do you think this has more to do with the economic situation or situations more germane to CPQ? It just seems logical to me that getting the company back on track from the Pfeiffer era is so much more difficult with the present economic downfall.

Andreas,

I had posted to Profile a couple days back that I really thought Intel's announcement of softening server chip demand was bad news for CPQ. Going forward, CPQ is really caught between a rock and a hard place because of Dell's attack (on price) in the PC and low end server space, and less and less 'room to hide' on the high end due to encroaching competition. Unless they can attack IBM much more effectively in the 'services package' space, it's gonna be tough going forward.

Regards,
John
