Republicans don't care about actual results or consequences. They live in a world of fantasy based on a mixture of Hollywood images from the 1950's, and things they think Reagan said in 1981.

I am not sure price caps are the way to go but I had hoped that the feds would cause a breakup of the apparent bottleneck in Sacramento.

Price caps are a big part of why there is a problem. If you limit the price that can be paid for something you limit the incentive to supply it.
