Beyond SpeedStep, what are these obvious differences?

That'll be a bit hard to decipher until the part is out, no?

Of course, everyone's assumptions here are that Intel isn't binning anything above 1GHz on the P3, and the "sweet spot" (read mean bin split) is lower than that. I'm not sure that's a valid assumption any more...

1) It's been almost a year since Intel released the 1GHz P3... availability now is excellent.

2) Intel had to recall the 1.13GHz for a design issue... presumably that's been fixed by now.

3) Given Intel could bin 1.13GHz months ago, but had to work out a design issue, it's at least possible that for a period of time they had to effectively "downbin" parts.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 1.0GHz mobile parts are essentially downbinned 1.13GHz desktop parts running at lower power... as the 1.13 is due to show up again here very soon.

TWY, <Beyond SpeedStep, what are these obvious differences?>

QuickStart is one of them. I'm not sure about the others, but I think it's more than reasonable to assume that a mobile 1 GHz Pentium III is much different from the desktop version. Remember that only a year ago, a 1 GHz Pentium III required a gargantuan heatsink.

Like I said before, let's wait until the specs are released.
