And when you have a shortage of energy, prices skyrocketing as a consequence, and utilities that are not permitted to pass the increased prices onto the consumer, you have a major problem.

Exactly. The utilities should be permitted to pass the increased prices on to the consumer. The price caps that contributed to the problem are the caps on what the consumer pays.

ted Re...Since Sacramento does not seem up to the task, I was hoping the feds would be.<<<<<

How could they be? Wouldn't it be to much to ask of congress to go against the money and step into the mess CA. has gotten themselves into.

Frankly< I think it is time we have a national program for rebuilding all of our old coal fired plants. The new plants can reduce pollution by 2 to 10 times. By getting rid of the old power plants, one could build 2 to 3 X the capacity with less pollution. However, that would take time, 2 yrs to build a plant, so I don't see what the feds can do about it in the short term. I thought they were looking into Mexican power. Actually pulling the plug will wake up CA. so they will get serious about doing what they must to solve the problem. Hopefully they will ship the power in from wall street and pull the plug on the Naz and DJ before they drop any further.
