Warp, StockCharts has the $TRIN 10 day ma at 1.47 today. Close enough to your calculation.

Warp, Don Wennerstrom gave me this link to an intraday Naz TRIN chart astrikos.com
Since Hayes uses the 10 day ma, I don't know if this intraday chart is useful.

warp,

hays just put up a slide show on the 10d arms. it is illustrative of both the strength and the deficits of this indicator.

the lapse btwn. hitting the 1.5, which it now officially has, and the mkt. bottom can be anywhere up to 20 days, and the losses suffered waiting for that "buying opportunity" can be up to 12%. (that is if we exclude the blow-off in oct. '87 where it was the next day and the losses were 22%.)

there are instances where you would have stayed underwater for months if you had not hit the exact bottom of the sell-off; simply buying when the 1.5 was reached is no guarantee of monetary victory. otoh, rewards are occasionally brisk.

all in all, it is a very tricky proposition. quite beguiling, but tres dangereux. also, the share-price rise, once the acutal mkt. bottom is hit, may only last for a few days before dumping off again. it is not as if this 1.5esque bottom is a sure sign of better days ahead, at least not l.t. steep declines often follow hard on the heels of the rise in the mkt. these 'buying opportunities' often lie well upon the lip of the slipper slope. once again, to the nimble go the spoils.

lastly, there is the ever-present problem, since the mkt. is not a whole animal, of what sector is blessed...

i was warned by my grandpa to beware of fast women, easy money and hard cases. i fear i have fallen in with a crowd that espouse at least 2 out of 3. my better nature fell to the blandishments of silver-tongued devils on fri. and i waded in, wearing my rubbers, of course, and bot keg, ene, hp, rdc, uti and an interesting one called sji.

lonesome in the hi lonesome - can't sneak up on 'yotes in rubbers. don
