Hi Jon, I saw the article making the rounds on SI and was going to post the link on Wayne's "Preserving Capital" thread.

www0.mercurycenter.com

Ummmmm .... 1 in 3 houses in Santa Clara Co. have income tied to options. Jeeez.

I'm beginning to think what's going on is beyond the normal (if there is such a thing) dynamics of Wall St. And the 3rd act of this 3 act play is just getting started.

This market was unable to muster a rally for more than 2 or 3 consecutive hours this week despite the fact that we will most likely get a 50 basis point rate cut next week. And we're already 2 months past when the 1st rate cut occurred. That's kind of worrisome.

The flip side of the bubble -- When people simply want their money, or worse, need their money, stock valuations don't mean a thing.

Chris

AMT is death to anyone who exercized certain options and then held past 12/29/00 on a company that is tanking. Lots of bankruptcies coming.

I think alot of Microsoft employees have stock options as a big percentage of their pay package. That is really scary stuff. It's like a circle jerk ... not only are you screwed in the market but the only source of income you have to dig yourself out of the hole (mainly your job) is directly linked to the market.
