Ed, tech investing: I noticed there are some tech stocks that hit lows last Dec and then rose and fell, but are still above their Dec lows. Examples are AMAT, AAPL, MSFT.

Other tech stocks are still in decline with no end visible, and they have not seen a clear floor. Examples of these are CSCO, LU, EMC.

I think the stocks in the first group [and others that behaved similarly] are safer to invest in. You know what the downside may be and can protect yourself.
