Do you, or any other poster/lurker, know whether the MTBE phase out in California is going to require any changes to the gasoline blends this year? Haven't heard anything on this subject in awhile.

In my uninformed opinion, bankruptcy is inevitable. The Californian politicians appear to be hopelessly confused as to what is happening. My best guess now is a 75% chance that a federal bankruptcy judge will be the impetus behind the required electricity rate hikes. Also think the entire California senate can kiss their careers goodbye. They are likely to get no financial assistance from corporations come election time, nor will they be very popular. Their "no rate hikes" strategy is in the process of backfiring big time.

CNBC proclaiming "residents of one state could be paying $3 per gallon of gasoline this summer. Stay tuned to find out which one."

Can't even begin to imagine which one it might be! ;o)

Hi Gina,

Your post quotes someone as saying: . If a refinery's power is cut for 30 minutes, [gasoline] production could be set back by almost a week.

Do you happen to have a source on this?

They seem to be able to maintain adequate supply, even with the possibility of 3-4 hours of power outage per day, according to the reporter. There are no reported shortages of gasoline, but I can only imagine someone's working on it... <w>
