I still have a problem with this. If there is a fight, then at least one and maybe both of the individuals involved is perpetrating a wrong. You are perpetrating a violent wrong with the intent of inflicting harm. The fact that the harm done goes beyond your intended victim's broken nose is still your responsibility. If, for example, you break the lamp in my living room while fighting with my sister, I would know that it was not your intention to wreck my home but I would expect you to pay for the lamp anyway. This goes a zillion times more to harm done to the person of another.

As far as the Biblical passages go. I am niether a Bible scholar, nor defender.
