I'm still waiting for 40 to cover. I had my finger (literally) poised over the Cover button, to cover if the Fed lowered by 3/4%. Now, if this was 1901 instead of 2001, I would have waited weeks to months for economic news to reach me, and then weeks to months more for any buy or sell orders to get from me (here in Alaska) to the floor of the Exchange in New York. I don't think the telegraph had reached Alaska by 1901, which means the fastest way for info to move was by newspapers carried on ships. Isn't technology wonderful, allowing instant and constant knee-jerk reactions to everything?
