I guess I have to cut you some slack, because you live on the east coast and don't hear the local news out here. It HAS been all over the airwaves in the past year that CA pays more for gas than anyone else, AFTER TAXES. Consumer groups HAVE screamed, but to no avail. We are all frustrated in CA over the situation, but what can we do? The local gas stations closed one day in protest over the manipulation; it was apparent to them what was going on.

The suppliers reply? "Supply and demand". They even go as far as to say that they sell at "what the market will bear", which is a fancy way of saying they manipulate the price as high as they can. Maybe you should open some refineries and compete with them; you could help drive the prices down to fair and reasonable levels.

On the gas: the generators aren't going to raise a stink about rising natural gas prices, because they just pass the price onto the market. Besides, in the Bush years, they can get off scot free. Bush has already publicly stated that there will be no attempt at regulating prices. Open season on consumers.

The American Way?
