Ignore reality, if you like.

Reality: children are getting guns, with ease. They bring them to schools, and shoot their classmates and teachers. They get them through the mail, and at gun shows, with ease. The NRA openly supports their ability to do so.

Fantasy: regulating the ability for children to get guns will lead to hostile takeover of the US by gun wielding criminals and communists.

Fantasy: guns don't kill people.

Reality: tell that to the 32,166 people killed in the US in 1997 by firearms. That figure includes 545 kids between 5-14, and 84 kids UNDER 5 YEARS OLD.

I don't want to take away your shotguns or sporting rifles. I just want to make it hard for children and criminals to get handguns and automatic weapons. Disarm the citizens? How about disarming children and criminals? Is that too much for a civilized country to ask for?

Fact is that the Republican platform supports the NRAs position on this, making them guilty by close association. Plug your ears and hum if you must, but that is the reality.
