We had gun education and toured a state mental hospital. Everyone age 12 and up owned at least one gun. No one ever pointed a gun, loaded or unloaded, at anyone else. Nor did anyone want to end up like some druggies we saw.

I've said that getting the guns out of the hands of kids in conjunction with removing the evil influences is the solution. Drugs are killing this country, but we've failed so far (both Rep and Demos) to come up with an effective counter. Your solution is to arm the teachers? In the shooting yesterday in CA, the gunman was brought down by an on-site police officer who is a big hero in my book. Maybe that is one of the unfortunate short term solutions; stinks of an armed police state, but if the alternative is dead kids I'm may be for it.
