Eric L: Suggest that "GSM roaming" will be a marginal consideration in the US where Nextel is most heavily used.

Outside the US or for those who need GSM in Europe, perhaps.

In any event, Nextel's choice strengthens CDMA 2000.

And that choice might, just might, have some influence with Bell South and others.

And the example of a clear new Nextel CDMA 2000 network again, might, just might, be noticed by those with new spectrum sitting idle - outside of Europe <G> - where there is a wide wide world.

PS And if I understand correctly, CDMA 2000 will have a "walkie talkie" type capability, so iden may not be required at all on the new Nextel network for the key function that has made Nextel so popular.
