Hi RG, It would appear that a blip was all it was. The Speculation's Moving Average never got to the Bullish area as in the past.

This graph uses an exponential moving average to smooth out the lumps and bumps to more of a "trend."

So, we're left with a weak signal at best. In all the other dates listed there were a string of weeks where the unaveraged Speculation Index was in Bullish territory. It was enough to take the moving average there as well.

What was painful this week was to see the Speculation Index rise again based upon several stocks being up over 100% in the last thirteen weeks and requiring something like 72% to just get on the list. I think this is more reflex from the late Dec. sell-off than more traditional speculation. Almost every time we've had a rapid sell-off, the Speculation Index pendulum then appears to swing back the other way.
