You've hit on a VERY touchy subject. That is, cultural attitudes towards education. Many liberals, such as myself, are extremely afraid of this topic, because we do are terrified of the 'racist' label. However, the truth is that there are cultural influences that hold students with various ethnic backgrounds. Not all students, but to hold back ANY because 'education is not for us' is, well, somewhat suicidal, isn't it? Aren't parents who hold their children back condemning them to more menial, lower paying jobs? As a liberal, I agree that this is one of the biggest 'skeletons' in the liberal closet.
