efax.com is a free service for incoming faxes. You have to pay if you want to use it for outgoing. It should work with any and all inet connections as it uses email system.

hi boababe

welcome to the thread. i see you and mag have exchanged some posts regarding your question.

tell me if this snip addresses your question....

"Some Telco's provide POTS service on the DSL line. This means that you get a POTS splitter box that lets you plug a telephone, fax machine, regular modem, or answering machine into the DSL line in addition to the DSL modem. Simultaneous use of POTS service does not 'eat into' DSL bandwidth. However, some Telco's do not offer the capability of running POTS on their DSL lines and will install a new line to be used only for the DSL service."

lots of conflicting info out there on dsl/fax, imo.

i see some faq's that say you can fax over dsl, no prob. and i see others that say you can't. like this....

********************************

"(#136) Can I FAX over DSL? (back)
You cannot FAX over a DSL connection.. you can still send and receive faxes over your regular telephone lines though.

Upgrading to DSL may add a DSL modem of some kind, but if you keep your old modem, you can still use software fax products like winfaxpro -- they simply use your telephone line as before, although you still have to plug in a telephone line as well!

This holds true whether or not you get ADSL over your home phone or SDSL on another line.

You may also try the internet solution, and subscribe to a sevice like jfax.com or efax.com which provides you your own dedicated fax number, and you may send faxes using a utility, and receive fax messages (and voice messages!) in your mail inbox."

tell me, what have you discovered? that you can fax, and you're trying to find out how? or are you trying to determine if faxing over dsl is even possible? because to reiterate, i am coming up with info that says yes and no.
