van, management teams are often the most gullible folks. the bottom line is the netscape deal was mostly stock (i don't know this, however i know how these deals get done and i bet it was mostly stock).

iow, i'll buy your $10 million dog with my $10 million cat. not to mention that management teams get on the business a-go-go tide and try and surf it. dumb? yes.

This is WAY off topic, BUT AOL paid way too much for netscape relative to the revenues they produce. Yet they ate them, for what reason, TO get rid of competition?

This is not the reason at all. It was due to KPCB.
