Sprint Selects Hybrid Networks' Fixed Broadband Wireless System for Deployment of Sprint Broadband Direct in Chicago

Hybrid Networks Provides MMDS System for

Third-Largest Metropolitan Area in the U.S.

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Hybrid Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: HYBR), the worldwide leader in MMDS fixed broadband wireless Internet access systems, today announced that Sprint Corp. (NYSE: FON) is using Hybrid's two-way system for the deployment of Sprint Broadband Direct in the greater Chicago area.

Hybrid Networks is supplying Sprint with head-end equipment that manages data transmission as well as Wireless Broadband Routers(TM) for use in subscribers' homes and businesses in more than 140 municipalities throughout the Chicago area, including Schaumberg, Northbrook and Naperville. Hybrid's head-end equipment is linked to the transmission antenna atop the Sears Tower in downtown Chicago that Sprint is using to deliver two-way, high-speed Internet access.

"We are excited that Sprint has chosen our system to provide fixed broadband wireless service to businesses and residences throughout Chicago," said Michael D. Greenbaum, president and CEO of Hybrid Networks. "While our current system can serve a large metropolitan area like Chicago, we anticipate that the summer deployment of our new near-line-of-sight router, ThruWAVE, will enable major service providers, like Sprint, to increase their customer bases in their respective markets."

In addition to Chicago, Hybrid's systems are currently used to deliver Sprint Broadband Direct in 13 markets in the United States: Fresno, Calif.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Melbourne, Fla.; Salt Lake City, Utah; Wichita, Kan.; Silicon Valley, Calif.; Oakland/East Bay, Calif.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Tucson, Ariz.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Detroit, Denver and Houston.
