You might want to check out Spire Corp. (SPIR) which also installs solar electric systems which can plug into the utility grid to save a company energy and even spin the electric meter backwards under certain conditions!
I was in on Spire's IPO back in the 1980's, but sold out at a small profit because I realized the people and powers that be were not yet behind electricity generation via solar power and that it would be a long struggle for it to succeed financially.

Bill,

Spire aside, the only other independent publicly traded company I know of in this space is direct competitor Evergreen Solar (ESLR). It went public a while ago and is likely suffering lock-up expiration blues. Their technology may be competitive, I don't know. Of the two, APWR is the one company that has a P/E ratio, and a substantial first mover advantage. How much the latter means is debatable, as the market is wide open and fragmented. Dips into the 20s seem to be good buying opportunities for APWR, but Yogi's the technician here.

Good luck.

Cheers, Tuck
