Watson,

IBM joined the PowerPC alliance, then refused to let go of OS/2, thereby killing any chance of success for PowerPC.

IBM fabbed for Cyrix, and sold parts to customers for the same price as they sold to Cyrix. This made it hard for Cyrix to stay in business.

IBM fabbed for AMD and AMD bailed before IBM had the chance to screw them. Same for IDT.

IBM has a very bad reputation as a partner in this industry.
