long, it's not uncommon after markets tank to find lots of abuses:

1. Cooked books are very common, notice all the companies warning now that they can't bury earnings failures any more? It's a lot more difficult to hide the real reasons for all those one-time charges.

2. Borrowing that can't be repaid surface. Mutual funds, banks, and individuals go belly up.

3. Governments start a search for the guilty to appease the angry people. They use other issues like wars and government programs to distract the people.

4. People look for scapegoats and take their loss frustration out on others. No good deed goes unpunished.
