I hope you don't believe that. There's no other way to explain the ridiculous amounts of money executives (in the U.S. in particular) pay themselves, and the ludicrously generous and lowballing options grants they award themselves.

A foundry which puts their customers out of business will not last long as a foundry. The only reason anyone goes to IBM anymore is because they want cutting edge technology (as AMD is doing with SOI.)

Instead of underselling Cyrix with their half, IBM could have sold all the wafers to Cyrix and let Cyrix make money off them. At the time, M1 was about 50% the price of an equivalent Pentium.
