Amd goes mobile, for real
Theregister reports that AMD is planning release their new mobile processor, based on Palomino, Q2 this year. Before the mobile processors from AMD has only competed with Intel in the low-cost segment of the notebook market. Now, with the Palomino based processor, they’re getting in to the fight with Intel at the high-end segment. The processor will use 0.18 micron technology, but it won't be made out of silicon, but out of copper. It will be housed in a 462-pin low profile flip-chip PGA package.

The next battle will probably take place in the beginning of the next year, when AMD starts producing a processor with 0.13 micron technology, this allows the processor to run cooler, faster and use less power. Read the full story here
