I've wondered about the assertions on this board that the gsm sp's got suckered into paying for spectrum. We assume that vod bought into nok's argument that 3g will be up and running in the near term. We assume that folks like vod believe the nok garbage.

However, vod is pretty sophisticated - they are a premier provider. How can they really believe the nok propaganda. They did the newbury overlay and are intimately familiar with vz operations. They understand the power of cdma 2000. Why does vod continue its path of intransience concerning CDMA 2000 ( consider the recent dispute with vz). Does vod profit from nok's gains? They seem to have everything to gain from rolling out cdma 2000. Nevertheless, they refuse the to go forward. What's up with their management? How do they intend to maximize shareholder value if they continue on the present course. I believe understanding vod's motivation is an important key to the puzzle. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
