Of course you don't worry much about union or environmental lobby groups. They are part of the Democrat team.

Democrats have done nothing to further progress on campaign finance reform. They sat by and watched Clinton/Gore sell the Lincoln bedroom and give away nuclear secrets in exchange for piles of money.

What a bunch of hypocrites to sit around now and pontificate about how money might buy influence in the Bush administration.

Why didn't Democrats do anything about the problem in 92-94 when they controlled both houses of congress and the Presidency??

res- What alternatives have you offered? Fair enough...
A more effective campaign finance reform package would be H.R. 1922. which was submitted to congress in 1999 by John Doolittle (R-CA) and Tom DeLay (R-TX). It contained the following elements:

- Repeal the limits on individual and PAC contributions to candidates and parties as well as party contributions to candidates.
- Stop funding presidential election campaigns with tax dollars.
- Require parties to distinguish between federal and non-federal funds, and require each state party to file with the FEC a copy of the same disclosure form as it files with the state.
- Require electronic filing of campaign reports, and require them to be filed every 24 hours during the three months preceding an election.
- Require the FEC to post campaign reports on the Internet.
- Bar acceptance of contributions unless specific disclosure requirements were met.

And I would add...
- PASS TERM LIMITS
