Dear Elmer: You put up a link to an application other than SPEC where Intel's compiler Vtune is definitely used by someone other than Intel or its subsideraries

I have no obligation to disprove you. You made an outrageous claim and you can't back it up. If you had simply said the compiler was difficult to use and some, or even many applications won't compiler using it, I wouldn't have disagreeded (too much) with you. Perhaps you just used a bad choice of words when you claimed all applications fail to compile, but it's hardly my burden to disprove such an obviously absurd claim. Why not take this opportunity to rephrase your statement in more reasonable, and accurate terms?

Intel VTune Performance Analyzer Selected for Xbox Game Developers Kit

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 2001--2001 GAME DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE--Intel Corporation today announced at the Game Developers Conference that the Intel® VTune(TM) Performance Analyzer is shipping as part of Xbox(TM) video game system Development Kit (XDK) from Microsoft. The Intel VTune Performance Analyzer is designed to make performance tuning easier and more efficient for Xbox game developers.

The Intel VTune Performance Analyzer collects, analyzes and displays software performance data from the system-wide view down to a specific function, module or instruction in an Xbox game developer's source code. The tool specifically helps developers easily recognize potential performance bottlenecks and produce a higher level of performance and competitiveness.

``We selected the Intel VTune Performance Analyzer because of the optimization capabilities it gives Xbox game developers,'' said Seamus Blackley, Xbox technology officer. ``The XDK ensures that Xbox game developers have the tools they need to carry out their creative vision, and we've included the Intel VTune Performance Analyzer to help these developers deliver high-impact and quality code for Xbox games.''

Intel's VTune Analyzer has been used for years by software developers to optimize their code for Intel's latest microprocessors. Version 5.0 is now available for optimizing code for

Pentium® 4 processors. The Intel VTune Performance Analyzer for Xbox was created specifically for Xbox game developers to be included in the XDK. Intel will demonstrate the VTune Performance Analyzer for Xbox in its booth at the Game Developers Conference. For more information about the VTune Performance Analyzer 5.0, visit <http://www.intel.com/software/products>.

``We are pleased that Microsoft selected the VTune Performance Analyzer for their Xbox game developers to deliver great gaming performance,'' said Jon Khazam, director of the Performance Tools Operation in Intel's Solutions Enabling Group. ``Intel developed the VTune Performance Analyzer for Xbox to help game developers deliver high-performance code for new and creative games.''

Intel Booth at the Game Developer Conference

Intel is showcasing advanced tools for the Pentium 4 processor at the Games Developer Conference, as well. These tools take full advantage of the Pentium 4 processors and its new Intel® Netburst(TM) architecture with its hyper pipelined technology and 400 MHz front side bus. Highly detailed graphics, more realistic environments and improved frame rates are more readily possible with Pentium 4 processor's new architecture and platform.
