Re: Intel to transfer LatAm Pentium 4 plant to RP Is this a package and test facility or something like that? Even if P4 sales have disappointed, I can't see them shutting down a running production line at this stage of the ramp. Dan

Aside from the existing production of microprocessor, memory type devices and peripherals products such as chips and controllers, Intel's expansion called for the assembly of all computer product lines. The investment has transformed the Philippines as a major assembly location of Intel. Intel is also conducting assembly and test operations of the so-alled C4/OLGA or Controlled Collapsed Chip Connect/Organic Land Grid Array products. From a mere assembler in 1974, the company's product mix has expanded to include the design and development of packages on integrated circuits (IC) and IC manufacturing equipment in 1994. In 1997, the company exported more than $100 million making them one of the country's biggest exporters and employing over 3,000 individuals. With a regional headquarter in Hong Kong, Intel's Semiconductor Ltd. sells and markets microprocessors, platforms and communications products in Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, China, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
