pezz ...

clik steam as follows ...

start
control panel
display
settings

at this point you should have TWO monitor images displayed ...

move the cursor onto the #1 monitor image

left clik WHILE holding down the mouse button

a large ONE should appear on the monitor you have set up as primary...
move the cursor to #2 monitor image
again, left clik WHILE holding down mouse button

a large TWO should appear on the monitor that you have set up as secondary ...

*(this holds true for all multiple monitors --- I've had four hooked up at once)

this above is just in case you didn't know ....

NOW
guessing, and that is a guess ....
sounds to me as if you have resized the number ONE CRT to fit across both monitors ...

haven't been able to do that myself with dual PCI or a combo of an AGP and a PCI vid card
BUT
have done it and am doing it using a Matrox dual 450 video card ...

another guess is that you "dragged" a minimized screen all the way across both monitors ...
then closed it out in that configuration....

the "new" open box defaults to "what was last closed" ....
so that is why the task bar goes all the way across both monitors ....

unfortunately, I don't have the rig up an running that has my dual head 450 ....
I'm installing a Pioneer DVD player in it and am hooking it up to my new 27 in Gateway CRT ....
this heavy thing is going to be difficult to get upstairs to my office ... so
you can bring your dual setup over here ... I'll fix your problem and you can help me cart this HEAVY pup up the stairs ..... ggggggg

if what I've guessed/posted doesn't help ...
give me some more info and I'll try to give you some more suggestions ...
