Tough break. Here's a little recession humor for U.

How do you tell the difference between a recession and a depression? A recession is when you lose your job, and have to move in with your parents. A depression is when you meet you parents half way there. <g>

Truly sorry to hear about your company. It reminds me that there are going to be a lot of victims in the coming debacle who don't deserve this depressing fate.

I have been responsible and have no debt and saved plenty to tide me over (not to mention i could see the writing on the wall at work....just didnt think it would happen so quick), others have kids in college, debts etc

Bravo. You are to be commended for your foresight. I hope you land on your feet, it sounds like you are upright already.

i went to a job fair today. i thought there would be 10 or 15 companies there and i would just walk in, distribute resumes, and be on my way.

when i arrived the parking lot was packed and i had to park down the street.

then after about a half hour in line i got into the room. there were only about 4 or 5 companies.

the line continued to grow behind me.

...tough times in high tech indeed.

on the bright side, i did hear a really good bill gates story from an egyptian gentleman behind me in line.

Sorry to hear the news. Thankfully, you are much better prepared than most.

I suspect that a large number of N. Americans are about to learn that the only form of job security is self employment (and that sure leaves much to be desired on many occasions).

This blasted spiral is tightening far too quickly.

Best, Earlie
