Fortunately, your real life experience supports the conclusion I'd arrived at researching the subject. Dual processors work significantly better only for certain specific tasks. For my applications, I'd be better off with a single fast cpu.

I'm glad to hear how well the AMD cpus are working for you on Win 2000. I had heard that there have been some problems there. I like the price of the AMD and the speed also seems to be superior.

I'll probably build my own, since I know just what I want. I'm a little apprehensive about doing that. Still, I think I'll just take the plunge. I have changed out a motherboard and processor before and all went well.
