Senor Steve ..... look at it this way .... IF Paddy can do it ..... most nearly ANYONE can ..... and "some" help resides on SI BUT there is LOTS of help on the net ... Pat was over on the learning thread today saying that now he'd given up on 1- Intel 2- Microsoft 3- dual processors 4- other assorted things as you know, he's gone to AMD and will live happily ever after ..... said that he won't pester mark anymore .... hmmmmmmmmmm bet not .... LOL The days of saving a bunch of money in building a box is over ... and the proliferation of reliable builders at reasonable prices is rampant ... and the reports of different parts are much more comprehensive than in the past ... however ... there is just something about a homebuilt box that is satisfying ... btw ... have not had one NOT boot YET ...ggggg but remember Occam's Razor when you run into a problem in construction ..... I vote ..... the NEW box should be an ESTEBAN not a Dell or a Compaq or a Micron or a Hewlett Packard or any of the lower tier builders ..... go for it lad ..... this little site will get you on your way arstechnica.com
