Evil? I don't see it. Stupid, occasionally. Tasteless, often. Power-mad
and ego-obsessed, almost always, but what politician isn't?

I think you have him pegged. I wish I could understand the obsession about this particular guy when there are so many politicians out there drawing attention to their considerable shortcomings. I've read post after post after post about how he's the incarnation of the devil and I just don't get it.

>>or the Reagan-era doctrine of unrelenting support for dictators who pretended halfheartedly to be on our side, a policy that left half the world with the entrenched view that Americans are the bad guys.
What real damage has Clinton done?

It was under Clinton that the US became the most hated nation on earth, according to a Harvard directed poll. And remember, Clinton cozied to the Chi-Coms in exchange for campaign cash. In exchange they got missile tech to target US allies and eventually US.

>>Possibly the most interesting aspect of the Clinton legacy is the Clinton obsession of those who opposed him. One wonders how long it will take them to outgrow it. Probably they will leave it behind when they realize that it is more effective to focus on issues than on personalities. I hope so.

Actually, the damage any Prez has done is somewhat gauged by the laws that are passed in his wake to prevent others from doing what he did.

By that measure, most everyone agrees that Clinton harmed the nation. "Finance reform" is a direct response to Clinton - his illegal fundraising and his sale of pardons.

Under Clinton, the U.S. military became significantly weaker. The Chicoms and other rogue potential enemies became significantly stronger. The sanctity of the court and the rule of law were weakened. The racial divide widened. The income divide widened. Education worsened. Fewer have health insurance. Opportunities from the so-called peace dividend were wasted. Honesty in government vanished. He ignored the suffering of those in Africa, oppressed the innocents in Iraq, and used military force to cover up his personal scandals.

Perhaps his defenders here missed it, or cannot admit it, but Clinton was an evil man whose destructive impact will not be fully known for some time.
