Two comments:

1) Why would the media love the McCain-Feingold? They stand to loss millions (billions, to quote this article) in political ad revenue. Seems like a wishful thinking argument; it is very popular in right-wing commentary to blame the 'evil liberal media'.

2) The public is not focused on this, because of the two grave main issues: the economy, and the energy crisis. That does not mean the public is against it; it means the public is preoccupied.

3) "Liberals can never make a principled argument". Ah, proving the author to objective and fair. What if I were to say that "everyone named Ann is a dolt"? Does that prove anything except that I have an ax to grind with a whole class of people that I probably have never met?

Where do you dig up this tripe?
